Rb003 pepper

RB003 pepper is a cult super-hot Capsicum chinense credited to Australian breeder Ross Barber. Its reported lineage is Yellow Reaper × Red 7 Pot Brain Strain. Known for aggressive pod texture, extreme reported heat and phenotype variation, RB003 has become popular with super-hot growers, collectors and breeders. Kingtalii has also grown RB003-derived material and selected unusual phenotypes forward while preserving Ross Barber’s breeder credit.

Flavor Profile

Aromatic Capsicum chinense character beneath intense, rapidly building super-hot heat.

HEAT EVIDENCE

Heat & Scoville Context

Breeder and grower community reports commonly place RB003 around 1.6–2.0 million+ SHU. This is presented as a reported community range rather than an authenticated laboratory-tested official range.

IDENTIFICATION

Pod & Phenotype

Highly textured, wrinkled super-hot pods with Brain Strain/Reaper-type morphology. Shape can vary across plants and selections.

HISTORY & ORIGIN

Origin

Created by Australian hobby chili breeder Ross Barber in Queensland, Australia.

Breeder / source: Ross Barber — breeder reference

GENETICS & LINEAGE

Genetics

Reported lineage: Yellow Reaper × Red 7 Pot Brain Strain. Multiple independent pepper sources repeat this parentage.

CULTIVATION

Growing Notes

Long-season Capsicum chinense. Grow multiple plants when documenting RB003 because pod shape, texture and color expression can segregate. Kingtalii has grown RB003-derived material and selected unusual phenotypes forward, but Ross Barber is credited as the creator of RB003.

USES

Best Uses

Super-hot sauces, powders, flakes, collector gardens and breeding/selection projects. Handle mature pods carefully.
